African representatives at World Beach Volleyball Championships confirmed

Abuja, Nigeria, April 26, 2019- Mozambique, Morocco, Rwanda and Sierra Leone Men beach Volleyball teams secured tickets for the 2019 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Germany.

Meanwhile in the women’s championship, Egypt, Mauritius, Nigeria and Rwanda made it to the semifinal to capture World championship’s tickets.

Mozambique defeated Nigeria 2-0 in the first quarterfinal match of the 2019 Africa Beach Volleyball Cup senior in Abuja

Mozambique double Delcio Soares and Aldexino Ninuja defeated Goodluck Anyasodike and Godwin Shekaru 21-16 , 21-15

In the second quarterfinal of the Men’s category, Morocco beat Angola 2-0 (21-10, 21-13) while Rwanda defiled all odds to beat South Africa 2-0 (21-18, 21-17). Sierra Leone led by Coach Sorie Kamara came from a set down to beat Mauritius 2-1 (15-21, 21-18, 15-13). The resilience of Sierra Leone players, Ishmail Bangura and Ibrahim Jon Kamara saw them overcome the Mauritius team.

Meanwhile Africa number one beach volleyball Women team, Egypt sent a strong signal by beating Morocco 2-0 (21-11, 21-15) in the women’s quarterfinal match.

After securing the men world championship ticket, Rwanda women team led by Charlotte Nzaiuzenga beat Botswana 2-0 (21-9, 21- 10) in a one sided encounter. Mauritius beat Mozambique 2-1 (14-21, 21-14, 15-13) in the third quarterfinal game.

Meanwhile, host Nigeria defeated Team Niger Republic 2-0 in the women category in the fourth quarter final match to secure a ticket for the World Cup in Germany.

Tochukwu Nnoruga and Fransica Ikhiede of Nigeria defeated Rakatou Seydou and Roukaya Garba of Niger Republic 21-18, 21-16.
